How do your programs or services help the community?

Too many kids in Columbus do not have a safe and positive place to go when they are not in school. A lot of neighborhoods have high crime, some kids don’t have enough to eat, and many struggle in school. Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place that kids can go to where they can develop relationships with caring adults, spend time with friends, and participate in experiences that will help them do better in school which can help them grow into caring and responsible citizens.

Program Descriptions

The Great Futures Initiative encompasses all programs and activities delivered by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus.

Boys & Girls Clubs are unique because we offer kids the following:

1. A safe, positive place for kids to spend time when they are not in school. We are open every day from 3-8 pm and all day during the summer. We provide snacks and meals for all kids at the club, even including dinner!
2. Enriching experiences. The Clubs offer some of the most awesome opportunities for kids. We take kids on field trips to places in our community that kids might never otherwise get the chance to visit. We even take trips to national conferences where kids can develop leadership skills. The Boys & Girls Clubs open kids’ minds to what is possible for their future.
3. Passionate Professionals. Our staff is the #1 reason that kids like coming to the Club. They are fun and know how to help when kids need it.

How many volunteers does your organization use?

Approximately 200 per year.
